One thing that I highly recommend that you bring to an interview and that you should accumulate through all of your work and volunteer experience is a professional portfolio. Now what a professional portfolio is is basically a scrapbook of all the evidence of your professional experiences. So, for example, I brought mine today. And (opens the portfolio) basically it holds a lot of the different things that I have done at the various positions that I have held. So, for example (pulls out a bound collection of papers) I was employed at Sheridan College one time and I was a tutor there, so these are all the lessons and stuff that I wrote for the web site. Also, another excellent thing to bring to an interview is extra resumes; (pulls out resumes) so I always have some extra resumes in here. And if other employers ask about your previous employers perceptions of you, (pulls out a letter) then I also bring in letters of references. And finally, if something that I have done doesn't relate to any work experience then I can always call on my academic experience. So, for example, (pulls out a bound project) I also have written reports and projects in my professional portfolio that demonstrate stuff like my writing skills as well as my technical skills. So, throughout your employment experiences, (closes portfolio) look for things that you can put into a professional portfolio - as well as volunteer work that you might be doing in the community.
