No matter how talented you are, no matter how good your resume is, the reality is that sometimes the world just turns out being a place where it's almost impossible to find a job. The solution in these cases: send a resume to everyone. Send a resume to your mom. Send a resume to your mom's friends, your friend's mothers, and your best friend's cousin's maid (if she might know the right people). The reality is you might not know someone who works in the industry you want to work in, but they might know someone who works in the industry that you want to work in.
I, for example, sent a resume to my mom the last time I was looking for a job. She forwarded it to someone who she had previously worked with. She gave it to her husband. And he became my boss because he worked in health care, but he worked at a place where my talents in mathematics and computing were both really helpful. So it's really useful to send out those resumes to everyone you know. Network, network, network. And the reality there is your job search will most likely be a lot more successful.
